Wellness Wednesday - Making water...better.

If you ask anyone who knows me, they will tell you my drink of choice is none other than Big Red. I can drink that soda all day...but I don't. We all know the better choice is water, but its so boring and tasteless. Why water when you can have soda, tea, wine, or beers (Yes, with a s). I mean....they are made OF water...right? As much as I love all of the mentioned, I always find ways to include regular water with a twist.

I make a honest effort to drink a minimum of 64oz a day (but I push myself to try and drink a gallon a day). I have a few tricks that I use in order to drink more water, they are:

Morning glass: I drink at least 1 glass of water before I eat breakfast. This is good for you because it gets your internal organs moving and flushes the kidneys.

Drink water from a straw: I find when I do this I tend to drink more water a lot faster than when I drink directly from the glass. It may be a mind game, but it works for me.

Drink for a pre-measured glass: What I mean by this is drink from a glass that you know the exact ounce amount. I have one of those tumbler cups that is useable and comes with a straw and lid and it's 24oz. I keep it at work an I make a game of it. I challenge myself to drink at least 2 of those before lunch. That's 48oz before I even eat.

Drink water with lemons: I love the added flavor it gives to the water and it also good for the liver. Click this link to see some other benefits of adding lemon to the water .http://myvega.com/vega-life/vega-blog/top-5-reasons-drink-lemon-water/

Drink water with cucumbers: This has been my latest craze. It gives the water a fresh taste which reminds me of summer, plus I was tired of my cucumbers going bad since no one at home wanted to eat them.I started taking them to work and putting them in my water. I also have notice I go to the bathroom more often when I use cucumbers in my water. These are just a few tools and ricks I use to insure I drink enough water throughout the day. There are a few different myths about how much water we should drink a day. I personally drink as much as I can in any given day. Our bodies are made up of over 75% water and we lose some that water on a daily basis. Water is a necessity for our survival and we need it. And as much as I like soda, tea, wine, and an ice cold beer...there is nothing like the refreshing taste of water. It helps remove toxins and helps to keep my skin looking beautiful. So take it from me, find ways to make your water better and your body will thank you for it later. So, until tomorrow...Stay Hydrated and Fabulous!!!
