Dream Chaser...Taking that leap of faith

Have you ever wanted something so bad that it's all you think about day and night? Your sitting in your cubicle, but your mind keeps wondering back to what if?  There comes a time in your life when you have to step out on faith and pursue your dreams and desires. I'm doing just that...I'm taking that leap by pursuing one of my goals, entrepreneurship.  I want to bring naturally inspired bath and body products to the masses. I have already started the initial footwork it take to get a small business up and running, but I need your help to build capital. Having a sufficient amount capital in the beginning stages is vital to the success of a small business. So I'm asking for your help. I have created a GoFundMe ( http://www.gofundme.com/6exweo ) page where you can make a donation to my dream. No amount is to small...so please give what you can. With your kind generosity I should reach my goal in no time. So THANK YOU in advance for allowing me to live my passion. Until ne...

Wellness Wednesday - It pays to be consistent

When we are consistent we can see the fruits of our labor. And boy have I been trying to walking in the right path....literally and figuratively.  I'm making progress and it starting to pay off. As I stepped on the scale this morning I didn't have a certain number in mind of how much weight I wanted to lose, I just prayed the scale would go down. So I stepped on and it read, 250.3lb. I couldn't remember exactly how much it went down, but I knew it wasn't going up. It wasn't until I entered that number into my fitness app that I realized that I lost 2.9lbs!!! That's from 2 weeks ago. I'm super happy right now...and every pound lost is a victory for me. So remember to celebrate your weight loss, be it big or small. The overall outcome is to become a healthier me, and that's what is most important.  Until next time...Stay Fabulous!!!

Talk Tuesday - My kids want a vacation!!!

This year I want to change how we do things in our household. This is going to be a huge change, but one that the entire family will benefit from. Going forward I am not going to focus on buying gifts for our children for the holidays or their birthdays. I have something in mind that will enrich their minds for the rest of lives. Going forward I want use to take family vacations to different countries and different cities . Having 2 children and 2 adults to pay for can get expensive, but this will have a more lasting impression than any material item they ask for can have. I believe when you expose children to different places, people, and things, it allows them to be compassionate to others.  It also opens their eyes to a different way of life. Traveling to different countries can be the best teacher a child has. And if other countries aren't in your budget right now, try going to a major city in the US. We did that this summer with my son when we stayed in Houston a few days. He ...

Wellness Wednesday - Staying Motivated

Any time you embark on something new, it's always a journey. Losing weight is no different. What has really motivated me to get this lifestyle change kicked into high gear, is the fact that I turn.......40 years old in June. There I said...I think I will finally retire my said age of 29 ;-). Being a busy woman I must find extra ways to get in some form of work out. So as of now I walk at work. I am working a plan to incorporate more activities because a gym membership is not in the budget. But that's okay.  There are plenty of things I can do to burn calories. The bottom line is I want to be around for 40+ more years for my family. As a Black Woman I have so many odds stacked against me like high blood pressure, diabetes,  and some many more. I want to cut them out of my equation all together. The one thing I would recommend is meeting with a nutritionist to come up with a meal plan. I can get down in the kitchen, but it can get boring. So I will be talking with my high school...

Wellness Wednesday - On the right track

Hey loves, coming to you with a quick update. So as you know, I've been on my journey to be a healthier me. I use an app on my phone to track my steps and food intake. This helps me be accountable for getting my steps in daily. I've been walking just about everyday since Dec 16th. The walking is staying to pay off as I'm down 1.2lbs, bringing my weight to 253.3lb. I know it's not a huge drop, but it is moving downward. I would like to meet with a nutritionist to help me come up with a meal plan cause ya girl can eat and I love food, lol. So my new goal is to lose 2-3lb a week and come up with a meal plan to help my health journey. I have to cut back on sweets and my favorite, Big Red soda, lol. What are some tips you can share with me to help me along my journey? Until next time...Stay Healthy and Fabulous.

Talk Tuesday - Accomplishments of 2013

We are a week into the New Year and I can't wait to see what it has in store for me. I have many more goals that I am working towards and want to accomplish. One goal I accomplished in 2013 is hosting my "First" meetup. Talk about someone being scared to death...that was me. However, the event was a success. I learned so much. I know the things I can improve on and what works well. That one event has given me so much confidence to meet my other goals head on. What are some of your goals for 2014? While you share your goals with me, sit back and enjoy the slideshow of my event. Until next time...Stay Fabulously Encouraged. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz8BENzKXEU&feature=share&list=UUfiAA9aV3KqjD56_j87MFkA

Product Love - Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

Image
Happy New Year!!! Let's get this blog started right and talk about some makeup products. One of my favorite items to use is Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion www.urbandecay.com . UD makes a variety of potions that provide 24 hours of eyeshadow wear and are applied before your eyeshadow. They prevent the eyeshadow from creasing throughout the day. I'm here to help you take the guess work out of which potion to use for each eyeshadow look you're going for. Photo credit: Urban Decay Original - Is a nude potion that dries invisibly. Works well with any eyeshadow color. Eden - Is a nude matte primer. Works well with any eyeshadow, especially matte colors.  Works well if you are going for a natural look. Sin - Has a slight shimmer. Works well with any eyeshadow. I find that when I use shimmer eyeshadow, they "pop" more. And it's also a great way to add a different look to your matte or satin eyeshadow. Anti - Aging - I have yet to use this one, but I beli...
